Multimedia, in the form of television, radio and film, has been a one
of the lifestyle shaping events of the 20th century. As we move into
the new millennium, consumer demand for higher quality and more
realistic medium immersion combined with continuing technological
advances in digital electronics has put traditional radio, film and
NTSC television on the path of obsolescence. Multimedia is rapidly
becoming an all digital medium.
The data explosion associated with the digitization of high
resolution content is a well known problem and extensive efforts have
been expended at developing highly efficient source coding algorithms
(i.e. MPEG4, JPEG2000 etc.) for the full spectrum of digital media.
In fact, the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI), a consortium of all
major film studios, recently completed the final system and technical
specification on behalf of the motion picture industry and adopted
JPEG2000 as the data compression standard for all high resolution 2K & 4K film data. Consequently, the next generation of equipment now
being designed - from digital video cameras to digital film
projection equipment - are all digital systems having a JPEG2000 codec core.
Mosaix provides a limited spectrum of cutting-edge high performance
source coding turn-key IP core solutions to the broadcast and film
industry. Our source coding product portfolio includes 1D and 2D
discrete wavelet transform (DWT) IP core codec, arithmetic IP core
codec, bit-plane IP core codec, and the full JPEG2000 IP core codec.
Full system level embedded solutions incorporating our IP cores are
available for OEM embedded solutions.
